So I've already mentioned my dad has a press called VRZHU.  Yesterday at busboys and poets one of the two writers they've published read.  The other one Kim Roberts was sick with the flu and couldn't read.  Hiram Larew is the one who read.  You can find both their books on amazon I think...  Well, I'm not sure actually.

Anyway...  So after Hiram read it was an open mic.  My dad called it a good open mic.  For only having 12 readers up it seemed incredibly wrong.

Which brings me to this question...

Why does everyone want to be a poet?

So I asked my dad.
"They want to be poets so they can express themselves, which is probably the worst reason to become a poet."

I agree.  Think about the poetry you like(mention Maya Angelou and you're dead to me) how often is it really about the author?
